A good friend gave me this radio on loan, for EMCOMM activities. Presently, it's connected to a discone (75MHZ-1200MHZ) which is shared with an SDRplay. I'm using it for 2m/70cm at present, though it can do some HF in FM given the right antenna.
Things I Like About the TYT TH-9800
Solid little radio with lots of coverage. These aren't too spendy, and put out a good amount of power. Plenty of support and accessories, and plenty of other hams who have them.
Things I Dislike About the TYT TH-9800
The audio isn't good at low volumes. For me, this is important, as I work in a quiet office. If you were using this mobile, it would probably be a non-issue. I'm not overly fond of the menu system and other UX items, but that might just be me.
